Major Assignment #3: Activity 2

Game plan for introducing the yoga rhetoric to my target audience. I feel that younger people are very influential, with the uprising of social media and “need for clout”. If models and famous personalities can get paid for just posting pictures of them sponsoring thing online I’m sure that their genuine opinions in articles or interviews is also worthy of influencing. SO, firstly I will read a few entertainment articles where a few of my favorite famous personalities have raving reviews and comments on the benefits of doing yoga and how and why they practice it. Secondly, Instagram has truly taken over almost ever millennials social life and creating an Instagram page with posts containing information on the exercise with very vivid and colorful pictures will definitely peak the audiences interest as all infographics do. Thirdly, I will also find the most suitable yoga gurus’ interview on how beneficial doing yoga is and paste the url link to download it and watch and understand how an expert explains it. We all tend to believe an experts words over any normal persons, so I’m assuming that will be a good genre to use to “persuade”.

BLOG POST 1: What is writing

What is writing? To me writing could be for two reasons, out of compulsion or for leisure. Usually when we’re forced or required to write there’s a lot more thought and deep digging that goes into it. writing for leisure or out of ones own interest is more pressurizing because jotting down what you want and not getting the desired finished product is disappointing and disheartening. Both the writings must begin with an introduction, explaining what you started writing for. An insight is helpful and lets the readers set their expectations on what they’re going to be reading. A body consisting of the topic discussion, and a final conclusions what all writings must have. To me, Writing is an outlet. A way I can express my own opinions, ideas, feelings. I write to express not to impress, I think writing is a very personal form of communication since we consider anything to do with context as writing.

BLOG POST 13: Learning and Transfer

According to the article being a novice is not a bad thing, in other words it’s just a lack of exposure to situations. But this lack of exposure also means they do not have any prior knowledge on the situation and the workings of it or how to react to the various difficulties or circumstances that may arise. An expert is someone who has experience in the particular field of work and knows how to cope in the situation that may persist respective to their field of expertise. I consider myself a fitness expert, and an expert in basic biology and chemistry. This may be because I’ve been exposed to these various fields for plenty of years or maybe because I choose to show extra interest in them even when not compulsory. I recently began MMA or mixed martial arts, so I consider myself a novice in the sport. I consider

BLOG POST 12: Transfer

[One student said: “I do find myself at times restructuring my sentences. I personally hate to admit that I did something wrong. But once in a while I will look at something I’ve written and say ‘well, that’s extra and that’s extra and I can take it out,’ and I will modify it, so I guess I didn’t get it quite right at first.” This student still believes that “getting it right at first” is better than “doing something wrong” and revising it, when it comes to writing. Another student said, “I’ve been told many, many times that the secret to good writing is rewriting. I agree that that’s a good secret, but I’m not patient enough for it to help me, and I just don’t like it.”]
I relate to all the students’ opinions. When time isn’t an issue and there is complete focus, devoid of any distractions but you still fall short of a “perfect” essay, blog, assignment or any writing, it’s disappointing and it takes away from any interest to continue. I’ve felt this way many times and that might be the reason I used to procrastinate working on many of my assignments. I began to feel that the initial opinion I had in answer to any question or topic must be the most appropriate and the most genuine. But when you have no time to think or elaborate on what youre asked, it’s tougher to write and it makes it seem as though you know nothing even if you do. One of the biggest pains of writing to me is revising it once you’ve written. Re-reading after each paragraph to make sure everything is in sync and the paper has a flow, checking whether you may have missed any important critical points or over elaborated anything, going over the entire article to check for any grammatical errors, are all gruesomely boring and time consuming if you’ve already lost your motivation. But over the years of composition writing I’ve learnt through practice that it’s important to revise and recheck your work and writing. It’s like weeding a garden to get the best flowers to grow and not allow the useless topics to take over the entire article and let the good points go unnoticed.
In English it’s mandatory to recheck and revise much like in math, you may have overlooked something at the very beginning that ruined the entire paper or problem.

My Quartet: In-Class 3-Minute Reflection

To answer the question. Does the idea/argument that yancey brought up in the fourth quartet about the syllabus and curriculum actually work, yes the TFT curriculum is working
because the checking of credibility’s and ability to peer review is possible and easier owning to the advancements of technology. The TFT curriculum in this day and age fifteen years after its formation still works as it basically explains how to react in any rhetorical situation. To be aware of the exigence, constraints and purpose of both yours and the surroundings. “[The class culminates with text in which they write a reflective theory about what writing is and how it is influenced or shaped or determined by media and technology. Located in the rhetoric of purpose, audience, genre, this model of circulation is particularly oriented to medium and technology; it permits a student, as Brian Morrison does here, to define composition as “the thoughtful gathering, construction, or reconstruction of a literate act in any given media.” These three related approaches: all oriented to the circulation of texts, to genre, to media, and to ways that writing gets made, both individually and culturally.]”

MAJOR ASSIGNMENT #3 activity1

The three genres that I’ve chosen to make use of in my third major assignment:
apart from the compulsory infographic, I will be using a testimonial from articles by celebrities that share similar views.
A testimonial will boost the readers interest and will encourage them to continue reading the report. They’ll have more confidence in the contents truth and genuinity if they have an outsiders opinion, especially if the testimony provider has a credible reputation in the particular topic.
The second genre I will be making use of is a personal memoir. I’ll write about my own personal experience with yoga and how it helped me.
I’ve also chosen to create an instagram page for my assignment to promote it using the infographics I’m meant to use in my assignment.

BLOG POST 10: Circulation

using Yanceys prompt on what writing is and what it isn’t and how it should be done and how it shouldn’t be done, I’ve understood that writing must include words, it may or may not be created for the exact same reason all the time everywhere. It could be very visual as a script for a film or an animation or limited in visual effects like in a novel or it could be a combination of both as seen in graphic novels or infomercial and newspaper advertisements depending on what kind of message the writing is trying to convey, who their target audience is and what the main goal the writers want to achieve is. Circulation is the spreading of information. It can occur through different genres, and it can be understood in different severities depending on the audiences its reaching. It could be any kind of information that is being circulated, bad or good, informative or entertaining. Circulation can be considered synonymous to “publicity”.

Knowledge through writing

How is knowledge made through writing? By writing, information is passed, understood or even created. When someone reads an article that has been published by a legit source, they can be sure that what they are being told is the truth and has come from credible authors. Most scientific facts are just discoveries that have been made. Previous knowledge or intelligence gathered from the experiments or readings made before can enhance or alter the discoveries made. Knowledge can not be “made”. It is usually preexisting and is just found by understanding. Conclusions are just summaries of what we already know or an even deeper understanding of something under study.
